This week in the GPS Robotics team VEX team members have produced countless ideas and suggestions to improve and build robots, alongside several changes to the build team’s objectives and plans for the future.

VEX Team Viltrumites has continued progress with developing their chassis, gear train, intake system, and countless improvements to their prior design including changes to gear trains and drivetrain systems. VEX Team Viltrumites is right on track to finishing their robotic system and with the collaborative experience they have acquired since the beginning of their teams, they can without a doubt complete their robot before their deadline.

VEX Team Metalheads has made considerable progress with their robotic system, finishing up their intake system, conveyor system, chassis, and reassembling their drivetrain/gear trains. Progress of this team has impressed many and the results of their robotic system are sure to deliver expectations for future VEX competitions.

The Build Team has found the many parts they need to replicate a VEX “High Stakes” competition, consequentially, The Build Team has undergone multiple changes in terms of their main motives for the future. However, these changes have come to an end as The Build Team has been assigned to a much larger task and an even more exciting challenge.

On October 22nd, the build team was assigned to the duty of designing and building a robot that would be fit to compete in the FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) game “Crescendo”.

This will be the GPS Robotics team’s first time using non-VEX robotic parts, which places a huge responsibility on The Build Team, taking into account the sheer volume of research that is required to be put into the elements and designs of FRC Robots, due to them being much more advanced than the casual VEX Robots.

Research for the rules and regulations of the “Crescendo” FRC Game commenced on October 22nd. Building of these robotic systems will begin when all Build Team members comprehend the rules and regulations and how the game “Crescendo” works. Component arrival and material availability also affect when the Build Team will start constructing the FRC Robot. This will be a significant step in the right direction by giving the GPS Robotics team the experience they need with advanced materials for future FRC Robot building.
