GPS Robotics

This week was one of the most productive weeks our team members have worked through. VEX Teams Viltrumites and Metalheads made vital steps towards finishing their robot builds. Moreover, team B.O.B. made significant progress with their FRC Research and other projects.

Team Viltrumites has made significant progress on their VEX “High Stakes” robots, with their chassis, geartrain, and intake system all finished and attached to the main robot. After countless redesigns and a series of trials and errors, Team Viltrumites is only a few steps away from completing their final robot design!

Team Metalheads has also made countless efforts and considerable progress this week to almost finish their robot, with all its components completed separately, leaving them with only having to make any last correction to their chassis and connect all components to their robot.

Team “B.O.B” is finishing their FRC Research and has gone on to build their 3D modeling skills by diving into CAD (Computer-Assisted Design) software Solidworks®. In this CAD software, students were instructed to make a Multibody Stake Bed Pickup Truck inside Solidworks and learned the basics of 3D modeling and the ins and outs of Solidworks. Alongside 3D modeling, team B.O.B has started building an FRC robot for the first time! The building of this FRC Robot is a massive step for the GPS Robotics team, as it will be our first experience with FRC Robotic parts.

LED Robotics Visits

On Monday, November 11th, the FRC/VEX Team and GPS Robotics mentor, LED Robotics (6722), visited the GPS Robotics team and imparted insight and new knowledge to both the VEX teams and team B.O.B.

This meeting aided VEX teams in taking the final steps to finish their “High Stakes” robots; with LED Robotics providing advice on improving robots, both teams, “Viltrumites” and “Metalheads,” made remarkable progress.

Moreover, LED Robotics was able to lend a hand to team B.O.B. by assisting them with their Solidworks models and demonstrating what can be achieved in the software by showing some of their very own Solidworks projects.
